graphic novels to read now

Gooooooooodmorning readers or good afternoon, or goodnight… Honestly who knows…! I hope every one is doing well and slaying their reading challenges! if you’re not, DONT WORRY, I’ve got you boo! I am here today to recommend you some amazing graphic novels that will not only boost your reading challenge but will also boost your mood. Without further do, let’s get into the five graphic novels you should all add to your TBR piles.

1. Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

I fell in love with nimona the first time I read it. Nimona is a badass young shape shifter who isn’t afraid to show her true colours. She is an annoying young girl, way too persistent and way to ‘bubbly’ about murdering people. Nimona is inexcusably flawed but thats what makes her strong and relatable. she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to get it. If you like reading action packed stories featuring intriguing sarcastic villains then, Nimona is the graphic novel for you. (TW; violence (not graphic))

2. Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

If you have read the saga series then you know how painful but yet how beautiful and action packed this story is. if you haven’t… then you should probably get to it and hope on the emotional roller coaster us sag fans have been on. Saga is not only a very intense story about an inter-galactic war between different species trying to save the world. It is also and SUPER inclusive and extremely diverse story. from genders to sexual orientations to different ethnicities. Saga has it all. I could gush about Saga for hours on end because it is one of my favourite series of all time, and even though it ended on a very painful cliffhanger, that left me crying for days, I would love to experience reading it for the first time again, but since I can’t, you definitely should. (TW; graphic violence, graphic sexual content, harsh language)

3. The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’neil

Okay here’s what you get when you read the tea dragon society; very cute pokemon-like dragon, amazing art style, inclusive and diverse charcaters and an intricate story line. what else do you even need? if you don’t end up falling in love with the cutest dragon I have EVER seen in my life then I think you need to reconsider your priorities (this is sarcasm, all opinions are valid). But for real, I have yet to encounter someone that didn’t at least enjoy one aspect of the tea dragon society. What do you have to lose, it only takes at most 30 minutes to read the entire thing. you should definitely give it a try.

4. Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks

Pumpkinheads was such a cute story. Reading it made my heart feel warm and joyful and it was overall a very good time. I would recommend reading this graphic novel around fall time as it is a story set during fall that takes place on a pumpkin patch. We follow our two main characters on a fun and quirky adventure throughout the pumpkin patch, seriously it couldn’t get any cuter. If you haven’t picked it up already, I highly suggest you do.

5. Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

Persepolis is a graphic novel inspired by the real life story of author Marjane Satrapi. it follows the writer as she grows up during the islamic revolution. Although it may be a smaller book, it is filled with powerful emotions and heartbreaks that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. not only is this story an important one, it is a beautiful story about finding who you are and who you want o be after surviving trauma. It shows every colours the world has to show and many more. If you had to take at least one suggestion out of this short list, then this book should be it. (TW; violence and sexual content)

So there you have it; a list of five books to help you boost not only your goodreads challenge but also your mood. I know times have been hard lately due to everything that is going on with the world but hopefully these can cheer you up a bit. Keep smiling and focus on the positive, everything will be okay 😘😘😘

Please let me know in the comments if you have read any of these and if you liked them because i would love to know. Take care and thanks for reading, xoxoxo
