People we meet on vacation & beach read review – two in one

Happy Tuesday everyone and welcome to today's post where I discuss two books i've recently devoured. I read both of these during the span of three days and fell completely in love with the characters, their stories, the writing and of course, found a new favourite author to love and obsess over. The author is none other than Emily henry and her two absolutely amazing rom-com are - ''People we Meet on Vacation'' and ''Beach Read''.

People we Meet on Vacation

Goodreads

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The story follows best friends Alex and Poppy, who are complete opposite of each other, but ever since meeting in college, the two have be as close as can be. Supporting each other, encouraging each other and most of all, traveling together. Until everything changed. We follow each characters in the present, living their own separate and completely different lives as well as going back in forth between the present and the past back when they were best friends. We follow the story along until we figure out what happened to the two of them, what caused the distance between the two and how they both deal with losing each other.

I picked this up through Audible when my friend recommended this book after I had been in a never-ending-reading-slump. It didn’t take long for me to be completely invested into the story. A few chapters in and I knew this was going to be, not only a new favourite book, but also a new favourite author. The story itself, with its plots twists and turns is great, but what I enjoyed the most, apart from the writing style, is the interpersonal relationships between all the characters. How they dive into them, explore and analyze them in order to better understand the world around them. I honestly would recommend this book to everyone, reader or not, because I think we could all learn a thing or two about ourselves and the relationships we have in our own personal lives from this story.

Beach Read

Goodreads

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Beach Read follows author January Andrews who is struggling to fall back in love with the art of writing after her life crumbles to pieces as she moves in the beach house her father left her before he sadly passed away. While living there, not only does she discover who her father truly was, regain memories she had forgotten and reconnected with her old self but she meets Augustus Everett who isn’t only her neighbour but also famous and acclaimed fiction writer. They’re complete opposite and keep on stepping on each others toes. Unfortunately, both living in a small town, working the same industry, and being neighbours, they’ll have to learn to live around the other.

I went into this book knowing nothing other than it followed writers – which is something I adore in books – and I was not disappointed. I fell in love with the characters and their growing relationship. Their banter was to die for and honestly, this book took me through a roller coaster of emotions. From laughing, to crying, to sitting on the edge of my seat this book gave me everything I never knew I was looking for in a romance and opened up my horizon to a genre I enjoy way more than what I originally thought. I know this is a book I will return to every summer and every time I need a quick recomforting, filled with emotions, read.
