Hello everyone and welcome to a new bookish posts! Today, in the midst of day dreaming about traveling the world, I ended up in a rabbit hole of looking through all the coolest book stores and libraries in world – which of course, I want to visit all of them so let’s talk about a few of them today!

Shakespeare and Company
37 Rue de la Bûcherie, 75005 Paris, France

Shakespeare and Company is an English book store located in Paris, France that George Whitman opened in 1951. It is named after another book store that was opened from 1919 to 1941 by Sylvia Beach. Fun fact; there are beds tucked in between the bookshelves where aspiring writers and/or book lovers can stay in exchange of helping around the store. This is one of the world’s most famous bookstore, it has been featured in many movies and has quite an interesting history if you ever want to dive into that rabbit hole. in 2016, the store actually published its own book titled – shakespeare and Company, Paris: A History of the Rag & Bone Shop of the Heart.
El Ateneo Grand Splendid
Av. Santa Fe 1860, C1123 CABA, Argentina

Situated in Argentina, El Ateneo Grand Splendid is a Spanish book store located inside a 100 year old theater that has bee converted in a giant book store that was actually listed on the list of world’s most beautiful bookstores on the planet by The Guardian and National Geographic. Bonus, the bookstore also has a coffee house where you can get either coffee or WINE ???!!! brb, booking a ticket as we speak! If this doesn’t sound like a dream, I don’t know what will.. I highly recommend looking online at the pictures because this place is simply divine.
the last bookstore
453 S Spring St – Ste 412, Los Angeles, CA 90013

This bookstore, located in California is not only known for it’s large selection of new, used and rare books but also for all the original and cool displays made out of books they have; most famously seen on Instagram – the tunnel of books – among many others. The owner of the store once said his book displays were a way to attract Instagramers for the perfect selfie in hopes of turning them into book lovers before they leave the store. Sounds like a cult i want to be part of!
The Atlantis Bookshop
49A Museum St, London WC1A 1LY, United Kingdom

The Atlantis Bookshop located in London, United Kingdom is a bookstore that sells everything related to magic, tarot cards and the occult. The store has been opened and owned by the same family for nearly 100 years and holds the title for the oldest occult bookshop in the United Kingdom. They have everything; from new items, to events, to workshops and even old and rare books that can’t be found anywhere else. Out of all the books on this list, I think this is the one I want to go to the most.
Tianjin Binhai Library
China, Tianjin, Binhai, 旭升路347號

This library located in China feels like it is out of science fiction movie. Nicknamed ‘The Eye’ or even sometimes ‘The Evil Eye’ for its enormous round structure in the middle of the library. It is one of the five central attraction in the Binhai Cultural Center. With a capacity of 1.2 million books featured floors to ceiling, the library has been attracting tourists and book lovers since it opened its door in 2017. The construction of the library was surprisingly short for how complex the building is. In just under 3 years from the first drawings, the library was ready to welcome in guests.
Have you ever been to any of these places? Was it as magical as it seems? Is one of the places mentioned above on your bucket list as well? Which one should I discuss next? Let me know in the comments down below!
