Hello readers and welcome to yet another book tag! Okay, i’m a little late to the trend here but i’ve been wanting to do this tag ever since my friend Victoria created it over on booktube (original video will be down below) and technically summer doesn’t start before june 21st so TECHNICALLY, it’s still spring right? … Let’s just get into the tag!
(yikes, i wrote this in the beginning of june and intended to get it published before june 21st….. just ignore me….)
QUESTIONS
1. Everywhere you look flowers are blooming! Choose a book you love or think you will love with flowers on the cover.

For this prompt i’m going with ”The Stolen Kingdom” by Jillian Boehme, a YA fantasy that follows our two characters Maralyth Graylaern, a farmer’s daughter who has knowledge of the secret magical bloodline she is a part of and Alac Thungrave, the king’s second son and spare heir has they inconveniently meet and get thrown into fights and battles they did not expect to come across. I picked this book because, first of all, I absolutely love the cover and secondly because after reading the ARC I was provided from the publisher, I completely adored the story! even though it wasn’t the best best fantasy book i had ever read, i really enjoyed my time reading it and think it was a solid debut. Jillian Boehme is an author i will keep an eye out for from now on.
2. Spring is the perfect time for a fun trip! Choose a book you’ve read or would like to read while traveling from one place to another.

For this prompt I decided to go with an audiobook I currently have in my audible library and on my TBR. While traveling I like to listen to audiobooks so the next one i’ll be picking up is ”We Hunt the Flame” by Hafsah Faizal. I’ve heard so many great things about this book, the cover is absolutely beautiful and the story sounds like something i’m going to fall in love with.
3. Who doesn’t love a good Spring Fling? Choose a book you were obsessed with for a short period of time, but then you swiftly cast it aside.

Okay… Listen, I feel like all of us were obsessed with this book at one point or another. We loved it, we thought it was the greatest book ever written and then we read some more books, we grew as people and as readers, we learned about different writing styles and the we moved on. it’s okay, we know better now.
4. Everyone loves the smell of freshly mowed grass, but not at an ungodly hour! Choose a book that personifies as a middle-aged dad waking up at 7am on a Saturday to mow the lawn when he should be sleeping like the rest of us.

i haven’t read it but the author’s behaviours tell me enough.
5. A surprise rain shower might spoil your outdoor fun, but don’t worry the sun will be back! Choose a book that made you really sad, but the sun still shines in the end.

If you’ve read this book then you know how heartbreaking it is. Cassandra Clare really took our hearts, shredded it to pieces and then stepped on it with ”Clockwork Princess”. Although it is a super heart wrenching book, it is part of a series and a world i absolutely adore and all of the Shadowhunter’s books. They’ve been a safe haven for me, a place i know i can always return to when i feel unsure of the world we live in and for that they hold a special place in my heart.
6. It’s that time of year when all the animals stretch their limbs and come out of hibernation. Choose a book that pulled you out of a reading slump.

I picked up ”How to Hack a Heartbreak” on my way to work one night and decided to give it a god during my night shift since i had just bought it and i ended up loving the story so much I read the entire thing in one sitting. (I was a night worker in a group home, I had plenty of time to read). This book not only pulled me out of a reading slump, it also ignited a whole new interest to the genre of adult romance, a genre I had never read before picking up Kristin Rockaway’s ”How to Hack a Heartbreak”
7. Students all over exhale a sigh of relief knowing they get a break from school. Choose a book whose friend group you’d like to spend Spring Break with.

For this prompt i’ve decided to go with Nimoa for the graphic novel of the same name written by Noelle Stevenson. Nima is a fun, loving and charismatic character that loves adventure and always makes the best out of every situation. I think spending spring break with Nimona would be super interesting and entertaining and an adventure of its own.
8. Spring is all about rebirth and blooming. Choose a book that made you grow as a person.

I listened to the audiobook of ”How to Fight Racism” by Jemar Tisby a few weeks ago and this book taught me so much on the history of racism and it is rooted in almost every aspect of the things we live by everyday. This book made me grew as a person because it opened my eyes even wider too the issues I see everyday and how i can react to them. Even though the story was written with examples from the United States it is still extremely relevant in Canada and every where in the world. Jemar did an amazing job at narrating the audiobook, it felt like having an important conversation with a friend and I cannot recommend this audiobook enough.
9. A picnic at the park is the perfect springtime activity! Choose a book with a character who you think would pack the best picnic basket.

For this one I picked ”With the Fire on High” by Elizabeth Acevedo, a YA contemporary that follows high school senior Emonie has she travels through life as a teen mom who has big dreams of one day attending a culinary class in Spain and becoming a chef. Emoni has had a love for cooking ever since she’s been a little girl and now, as an older teenager, she’s even started creating her own recipes. If the food she makes is as good as the story written by Acevedo or as delicious as that cover, then i’m for sure inviting her to my picnic.
10. For many Spring is the first break from the bitterness of Winter! Choose a book that is the embodiment of sunshine.

For this prompt I am going with a book that is just so beautiful and wholesome is so many ways and it is no other than ”The Tea Dragon Society” by author Katie O’Neil. There is not other way to describe this book other than absolutely adorable, this book definitely is the embodiment of sunshine and it works perfectly for this prompt.
11. Tag your book lovin’ friends!
I tag no one because it’s summer, spring is over and everyone has already done this tag. 🤷♀️🤷♂️
BONUS QUESTIONS
A. The world around us is being reborn right before our eyes! Choose a book whose movie or tv adaptation reignited a dormant obsession.

For this prompt I HAD to pick ”Shadow and Bone” by none other than Leigh Bardugo. This book is at the core of the book community, it is the reason many of us fell in love with reading and especially with fandoms and it is also a book many, read more than once and love escaping to the world of the Grisha verse every once in a while. Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Netflix recently adapted the book series into a tv show series and even though i still haven’t seen it (i know, shame on me), the hype regarding the tv show sure did reignite a need for me to revsite the Grisha world!
B. There couldn’t be a more perfect time to discard cluttering items with a little Spring Cleaning! Choose a book you’ve held on to for far too long (either physically or in your heart.)

I bought this book not long after it came out because I genuinely believed it would be something I would have related to and loved with all my heart. unfortunately, this is one of the worst book I have ever read LMAO (in my opinion, don’t drag me). I’ve kept it on my shelf because I paid almost $30 for it when it was released and also because the cover cute. Now, I guess it’s time to let it go…
C. Spring is the perfect time to try something new! Choose a book that features an activity you’d like to try or a place you’d like to go.

For this prompt i’m going with ”Love and Olives” by Jenna Evans Welsh. This story takes place in Greece and it has always been on my bucket list to one day visit the beautiful country that is Greece. I’ve read Jenna’s two previous YA traveling novel and loved both of them and i’m super excited to pick up ”Love and Olives” this summer!
D. Springtime may be lovely, but the allergies it brings are not! Choose a book with a side character/second pov character whose presence is unwanted.

I read this one a while ago and if i’m being honest, I don’t remember much about it other than most of the characters were super annoying to me… that’s all i’ve got to say!
E. With each new season comes a new color scheme and Spring does it best with pastels! Choose a book with a pastel cover that you loved or think you will love.

For this prompt I decided to go with ”One Last Stop” by Casey McQuiston because after some friends of mine have read it and loved it I definitely think I will enjoy it as well. Plus the cover is super cute and, so far, i’ve enjoyed every other book by the same author that I have read.
